While the Eagles' preseason was turning into an episode of
General Hospital - with not as many calamities, but all the drama - Brian Westbrook was steadily chugging along.
There have been a mass of injuries, a mess of off-the-field distractions, and one notorious signing, but it all may not matter much if the running back the Eagles cannot afford to miss returns to form.
From most indications, Westbrook is on the right path.
"It just depends on who you ask," Westbrook said yesterday at the NovaCare Complex. "I think I'm right on time, right where I wanted to be at."
Two months ago, he appeared to be veering way off course. The Eagles had announced that Westbrook would undergo his second surgery of the off-season - this time to clean out bone spurs in his right ankle. Just a few months earlier, he had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
