Coming off an incredible comeback season that re-established himself as a goal scorer, Simon Gagne got off to a rough start when he aggravated his right hip and groin area during the Canadian Olympic orientation camp in Calgary.
"For now it's nothing serious," said Gagne, who scored 34 goals last season after missing most of the previous season with concussions. "The pace was a little faster than I was used to this summer. I think I'll be OK for training camp."
The Flyers open training camp with fitness testing on Sept. 12.
On May 28 Gagne underwent surgery to remove a bone spur and adhesions that built up in his right hip. He was given a recovery period of four to six weeks and resumed skating in early August.
